Mihalik, an assistant professor of Exercise and Sports Science in UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences, has co-authored a smartphone app to help determine whether someone has suffered a concussion. That smartphone app is now up for a 2012 Appy Award and is 1 of 3 finalists in the running for Medical app of the year. His team is being nominated in the same category as Medscape’s WebMD app.
