2021 EXSS Undergraduate Research Exhibition
The Department of Exercise and Sport Science is sponsoring a 2021 EXSS Undergraduate Research Exhibition Virtual Open House during the Fall 2021 University Research Week (November 8-12, 2021). Participation is welcome from all areas of EXSS including athletic training, sport administration, fitness professional and general EXSS tracks. Five Slides in 5 Minutes Presentations are welcome on completed research projects or projects currently in progress by any UNC-CH undergraduate student working with an EXSS research mentor.
Student presentations will be reviewed by a faculty panel and will be given feedback prior to the 2021 EXSS Virtual UG Research Symposium Open House. Participating students will be asked questions by the faculty panel and guests at the 2021 EXSS Virtual UG Research Exhibition Open House on Wednesday, November 10, from 4:00-5:00PM. All presenting participants will have the opportunity to interact directly with EXSS faculty about their research ideas and experiences. This is great practice for graduate/ professional school and job interviews.
A completed statement of interest form (second page of this document, signed by the student’s faculty research advisor) should be submitted by email to Dr. J.D. DeFreese (email@example.com) by November 5, 2021 to ensure a spot in the symposium. Sending this form prior to the deadline is preferred. Pre-recorded (via Zoom) 5 Slides in 5 Minutes Presentations will be posted on the EXSS website and should also be emailed to the symposium organizer, Dr. J.D. DeFreese, by no later than 3PM on Friday, November 5, 2021.
Please ask your faculty or graduate student research mentor for their guidance on developing a presentation using a template from their laboratory/projects or email Dr. J.D. DeFreese for an example template.
A PowerPoint slide presentation pre-recorded via Zoom should be sent to the event organizer Dr. J.D. DeFreese. Of note, the presentation should be no longer than 5 minutes in length (5 slides maximum).
