Malia Blue, PhD, CSCS, CISSN is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science. Prior to joining the EXSS faculty, she was an Assistant Professor in the Exercise Science department at High Point University. Dr. Blue attended UNC Chapel Hill for her B.A. in Exercise and Sport Science and M.A. in Exercise Physiology. She completed her Ph.D. in Human Movement Science as a Royster Fellow at UNC Chapel Hill.

Dr. Blue’s research is focused on components of cardiometabolic health with a special interest in racial and ethnic minority populations. Specifically, Dr. Blue evaluates body composition, muscle characteristics, and cardiovascular function and how these components are interrelated in overall health and disease risk. Additionally, Dr. Blue’s research interests include the relationship between body composition, performance and injury risk in various athletic populations.
