J.D. DeFreese, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research examines the link of athlete psychological health, including outcomes of burnout and well-being, with athlete physical health and social functioning. He also assists in program coordination for UNC’s Center for the Study of Retired Athletes.
