Professional Summary

Deb Southall received her undergraduate degree from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama in physical education (B.S). She then completed her Masters Degree (M.A.) from the same university in Special Education. She owned her own Jazzercise Fitness Franchise for over 15 years and then worked for the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation for over 4 years as the Division Director in charge of marketing, promotion, communication, public relations, finance, and fund raising in Birmingham, Alabama. She taught in the Physical Education and Sport Management Departments at the State University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA for 6 years and 2 years at the University of Memphis, Tennessee in the Sport Management Program. She has spent 3 years in public schools in Georgia and Tennessee. She has taught classes in sport marketing, sport promotions, sociology of sport, global perspectives in sport, event management, and facility management along with organizational culture in sport. Here at UNC, she is currently team teaching 2 sport psychology/sociology classes along with an event/facility class and an introduction to sport management class.
