Students should become involved in athletic training at the undergraduate level as early as their freshman year. During this time, students are assigned observational hours in the Stallings-Evans Sports Medicine Center where they gain exposure to injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation.

Observer hours are scheduled by contacting Doug Halverson or Nina Walker.  We have an interest meeting on the Tuesday of the first full week of class each semester in Fetzer 106 at 7pm.  Please email one of the two contact people with your semester schedule to be added to the listserv to receive further information.

Students who wish to continue with athletic training as a career path should declare Exercise and Sport Science – Athletic Training as their major and apply to the program in October of their Sophomore year.

Students interested in the athletic training program may also be interested in the Carolina Athletic Training Students’ Association.
