Lifetime Fitness Foundation

All LFIT courses have the same academic work involved. The online presentations and labs will provide the student with an introduction to fitness and wellness, and will instruct on how to develop a personal fitness program. Class time will be spent on instruction in the physical activity that the student registers for.

  • LFIT 102: Lifetime Fitness: Adapted Physical Activity (1 credit hour)
    • This class is reserved for those with limited physical capabilities, or special medical situations. The activities in this class are individual specific, and will attempt to promote cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility.
  • LFIT 103: Lifetime Fitness: Aerobics (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion of the course includes various forms of aerobic exercise.
  • LFIT 104: Lifetime Fitness: Exercise and Conditioning (1 credit hour)
    • Activities in this class will promote cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility through many different forms of aerobic and anaerobic exercises.
  • LFIT 105: Lifetime Fitness: Indoor Sports (1 credit hour)
    • Activity portion of the course includes basketball, volleyball, and indoor soccer.
  • LFIT 106: Lifetime Fitness: Beginning Jogging (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion of the course promotes cardiovascular fitness through jogging, and is geared towards students who are learning to incorporate jogging into their exercise program.
  • LFIT 107: Lifetime Fitness: Intermediate Jogging (1 credit hour)
    • Activity portion for students who can complete 30 minutes of jogging.
  • LFIT 108: Lifetime Fitness: Outdoor Sports (1 credit hour)
    • Activity portion of course includes ultimate Frisbee, flag football, and soccer.
  • LFIT 109: Lifetime Fitness: Racquet Sports (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion of the course includes badminton, tennis, and racquetball.
  • LFIT 110: Lifetime Fitness: Beginning Swimming (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion of the course teaches swimming skills for beginners.
  • LFIT 111: Lifetime Fitness: Swim Conditioning (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion of the course promotes cardiovascular fitness through swimming. Students should be able to swim all 4 competitive strokes.
  • LFIT 112: Lifetime Fitness: Walking (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion of the course promotes cardiovascular fitness through walking.
  • LFIT 113: Lifetime Fitness: Weight Training (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion includes basic techniques of weight training, using free weights, machines, and body weight exercises.
  • LFIT 114: Lifetime Fitness: Yoga & Pilates (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion will be an introduction to Yoga and Pilates, and concentrate on increasing strength and flexibility.
  • LFIT 115: Lifetime Fitness: Cycle Fitness (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion will be at our indoor cycling studio, and is designed to help improve cardiorespiratory endurance.
  • LFIT 118: Lifetime Fitness: Flag Football (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion will focus on skills, drills, and game play revolving around strategies of flag football.
  • LFIT 129: Lifetime Fitness: Downhill Skiing/ Snowboarding (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion will focus on pre-ski or pre-snowboarding exercises to prepare for the end of the semester ski/snowboard trip. Students MUST attend the trip to the mountains to successfully complete this course.
  • LFIT 130: Lifetime Fitness: Soccer (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion will focus on skills, drills, and game play revolving around strategies of soccer.
  • LFIT 140: Lifetime Fitness: Ultimate Frisbee (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion will focus on skills, drills, and game play revolving around strategies of ultimate Frisbee.
  • LFIT 145: Lifetime Fitness: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion will provide instruction on basic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques.
  • LFIT 146:  Lifetime Fitness: Sand Volleyball (1 credit hour)
    • The activity portion will focus on skills, drills, and game play revolving around strategies of sand volleyball and will be taught at the Outdoor Education Center (OEC).
  • LFIT 190: Lifetime Fitness: Special Topics (1 credit hour)
    • This course is designed to cover the study and practice of special topics directed by an authority in the field. Subject matter will vary per instructor and topic.
